Insight #2. Spiritual Enlightenment is a Myth
Insights about Life
For years people have been striving for enlightenment, going to courses, meditating, practising, travelling to places of power, and all trying to achieve this enlightenment. And few people can answer the question - what is enlightenment? How to measure it? How do you realise that you have reached enlightenment? The main illusion is that you perceive enlightenment as some final result. Now I will reach enlightenment, I will understand everything about this life, I will relax, lie on the beach in Bali and enjoy this life. And all my problems will disappear at once. And you are all in a perpetual search for this enlightenment. No, it doesn’t work like that.
In fact, everyone, absolutely everyone of you has reached enlightenment in this life. And even more than once. Personally, I want to replace this abstract esoteric word “Enlightenment” with the word “Insight”. Throughout your life, you have had at least once an insight - a realisation about life. When you just in an instant get an answer to some question of yours. For example, you’ve often spent time arguing in social media comments. And then one day you woke up and realised “Why am I even wasting my life on this? I don’t want to do this anymore.” You’ve gained insight. It can come in the form of a clue from the outside (e.g. through videos, music, words of other people, events, other signs). Or simply as knowledge. Like you’ve always known it, but you’ve forgotten it. And you realise, “This is so simple, why didn’t I realise this before?”. Enlightenment or “insight” is when at a certain point in your life you begin to look at certain things differently, perceive life or specific circumstances differently, relate to a situation differently, feel differently inside. And this process is continuous. It has no beginning and no end. The more a person is open to inner changes, the more he listens to himself or to the external signs of the Universe, the more often he receives these insights. And if you think that at some point you will understand everything at all and calm down, you are mistaken. You will receive these insights until the day you die. You may not hear them, you may not recognise them, you may not notice them, you may not understand them, that’s another point. Very closed people, or those who chose to follow the path of degradation or people who are limited because of their life circumstances, they are busy with survival and they don’t care about such terms, they won’t even think about such things. But everybody else gets insights throughout life. That’s what I call enlightenment. You can get 10 insights in a week. And six months later, you can get 20 more. There is no end point to enlightenment. It’s a journey. So treat it as an eternal journey and don’t chase an illusion. Rather, learn to listen to your intuition and sensations, learn to recognise these signs so that insights come to you more often and more frequently. It feels good. And best of all, you don’t need a lot of money to do this, you don’t need expensive retreats, hours of meditation and esotericist sessions. You just need to stay open to the signs, develop your sensitivity, and learn to trust your intuition. You can sit in your kitchen, drink coffee, listen to music and hear lines in a song that will touch you to the core and you will realise something very important for yourself. That’s what I call enlightenment.
